Um, apparently James Iha from The Smashing Pumpkins does a remix of “Heads Will Roll” by YYYs. Typically, I hate everything James Iha does on his own because it comes off whiney but in the Pumpkins, he added a much needed softer, melodic side to the band. The remix is good but the others are better.
All I know is that the YYYs have put out the best dance album of the year thus far. Even the bonus tracks are incredibly infectious. This remix EP of Heads Will Roll is super fun. I just hope they release Soft Shock, my personal favorite off the album. I’m easy to please. I only ask if you have heavy bass in your remix and make that shit sound dirty. Hm. How else can I explain it? It sounds like the song is buzzing and/or the speakers are about to tweet out. Which explains why I like MSTRKRFT so much. However, what pisses me off is that LPs get all the attention while EPs fall by the wayside. YYYs first EP, Master, was explosive. I like music that makes me want to stab things and/or dance, and the song “Art Star” definitely had that effect on me.
The Recording Artists Collective (RAC) does some pretty killer remixes of various groups. I prefer their version of “Be Good” by Tokyo Police Club even to the original. Why? Because there are handclaps. See? Easy to please. So when I found this jewel, I was very happy indeed.
And will someone give me just a few items from Karen O’s wardrobe because it is bananas-amazing? Or the gall to pull that shit off? And what the fuck…Nylon! I hate you so much right now. I will buy this ONE issue but that’s it. And stop scammin’ on my sounds yo. La Roux? Really? Well, at least that means Cory Kennedy hasn’t run her hands all up in the music department.
I could yammer on but instead I’ll end it on this: “It’s hard to say no to a dance party.” Karen O
